If you are a regular Beehive Farmacy customer, thank you for trusting us with your medical cannabis needs. We have a question for you: have you ever looked closely at the labels affixed to your medicines? There should always be at least one. State law requires that medical cannabis packaging display the proper labels based on product category.
The labels (there are two of them) play a vital role. They are designed to assure you that you are getting exactly what you are expecting. The labels also act as a way for medical cannabis pharmacies to verify that they are dispensing the appropriate medications only to eligible patients.
The Patient Label
If you are familiar with only one of the two labels, it is probably the patient label you have looked at before. It contains much of the same information you would find a traditional prescription bottle. At the very top is the date the product was dispensed to you. Below the date is your patient ID number and your name.
The pharmacy name, address, and phone number come next. Not that you would forget where you purchased your medical cannabis, but just in case you did, looking at the label would solve the problem.
The next two items on the patient label are product category – like flower, for example – along with the product name and its weight. They are followed by any applicable warnings and instructions. It is all pretty standard stuff.
The Cannabis Fact Label
On the back of all medicated products in Utah is the cannabis fact panel. Information included as part of the label includes the name of the product or chemovar, processor information, batch and lot numbers, cannabinoid and terpene content, extraction method and solvents, and dates involved with the product (testing, packaging, harvest and expiration). Other ingredients used to produce an infused product are also listed.
When shopping on our website, you can view the cannabis fact panel on most of our products as of July 1, 2025. By September 1, 2025, all medicated products on the website will have the cannabis fact panel listed.
The fact panel information allows you to make a more informed decision about the cannabis medicine you choose to use. It also allows you to track your medication to the processors and growers that your medicine comes from.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask
Both product labels exist for your benefit. As a medical cannabis patient, we encourage you to read and understand labels as best you can. Never be afraid to ask questions if you don’t understand what a label entry means.
Our technicians can answer basic questions about label information. More difficult questions can be referred to our on-site pharmacist. One way or another, we will get you the answers to your questions before you leave Beehive Farmacy.
For Valid Card Holders Only
Given that Utah continues to add new medical cannabis patients to the rolls every month, it is important that we remind customers of the basics. The most important thing to know regarding this post is that medical cannabis is only available to valid card holders. Being diagnosed with a qualifying condition is not enough by itself. A patient must still get a doctor’s recommendation and apply for a card online.
If you are new to medical cannabis and live in the Salt Lake City or Brigham City areas, we would love to meet you. Stop in to either Beehive Farmacy location and take some time to meet our friendly and knowledgeable staff. We offer a complete range of medical cannabis products to suit just about any need.
